The Lima Community Improvement Corporation (LCIC) achieves its mission through a variety of programs and initiatives aimed to restore and rebuild stable neighborhoods in the City of Lima through real estate development and the promotion and preservation of home ownership. The LCIC collaborates with public and private investment partners to rehabilitate existing in the city as well as infilling the vacant parcels with new homes. All of the homes are then be sold to new families. The LCIC also collaborated with the City of Lima to create the Better Blocks for Business program, which is designed to assist Lima’s neighborhood businesses along commercial corridors that are located in historically distressed and underserved neighborhoods. Better Blocks for Business is a grant program offering up to $15,000 to fund exterior building improvements such as brick, siding, windows, doors, painting, lighting and more for eligible businesses. Since its inception in 2023 more than six businesses have received funding for their projects.

The Lima Community Improvement Corporation will invest in housing development by helping to encourage mixed-income communities. LCIC housing development activities
will include new development, the rehabilitation of single-family homes and small scale, multi-unit homes and apartment buildings.

Homeownership

Promoting and Preserving Homeownership LCIC believes that, through homeownership, people more effectively build financial security and stability. Owning a home correlates with increased social and political involvement and improved health and educational achievement. The LCIC will assist Lima residents of all income levels achieve home ownership through homebuyer education and other services.

Additionally, we know that owning a home requires ongoing maintenance and financial commitment; therefore, the LCIC partners with the City of Lima’s Department of Housing
and Neighborhoods to offer loan and grant programs that can assist homeowners in keeping their homes as well as improving the efficiency of those homes.
